The pitcher sits on both knees a few inches apart. He holds the baseball in the web of his glove with the palm of his glove facing his face under his eyes. His elbows form a triangle in front of his chest.
The pitcher pulls both hands down simultaneously and breaks his thumbs down and away from each other over their pivot thigh and then makes circles with each arm. The top of the throwing hand wrist leads the elbow to shoulder height with the back of the hand facing the sky and the finger tips relaxed and ready to throw.
The glove hand circles up over the pivot thigh with the thumb of the glove hand leading the way to the target. The palm of the glove hand snaps a picture behind the pitcher to his left. The pitcher then initiates the toss to his partner by executing the exchange. This is done by pulling the glove side elbow down toward the pitchers front hip and turning the glove side fingers up half way through this action. (The pitchers palm and fingers of his glove hand will be facing his glove side pectoral muscle when completing the front side exchange) When the pitcher pulls his elbow down he simultaneously pops his throwing fingers up keeping his thumb under his hand and begins the exchange.
The right shoulder rolls in front of the chest and the throwing hand is out in front of his face to release the ball. Let me note that the pitcher’s chin is down when performing this action. The ball is then released incorporating the previous wrist and forearm drills actions. The pitcher’s chin will finish down on the throwing shoulder.
Keys: Breaking thumbs down and away over the pivot thigh, and keeping the chin down as it rotates from front shoulder to the back shoulder during the whole drill.
