Sitting Length Drill

Pitcher sits on his pivot foot knee with his stride leg out toward the pitcher and with his stride heel in a straight line back to his knee. The stride foot toe is turned 30 degrees to his throwing side. The pitcher’s front hip and shoulder are pointed at the target. The pitcher’s chin is down on his front shoulder, with his elbows forming a triangle in front of his chest. The throwing hand is in the palm of the glove with the ball in the web.

The glove is facing the pitcher’s back pectoral muscle. The drill initiates when the pitcher breaks his thumbs over his pivot thigh and begins his arm circles. When the elbows are at shoulder height, and the hands are in the proper position the exchange begins and the front elbow comes down to his hip and his throwing shoulder rolls over in front of his chest and his throwing hand in front of his face.

The ball is released as previously discussed in drills one two, and three. At the completion of the drill the pitchers chin is down on his front shoulder his chest is over his right thigh and his eyes are leaning out over his stride toe.

Keys: Get shoulder width apart with your set up. Make sure the pitcher is lined up straight. Really emphasize focusing on the proper exchange in this drill. Pay attention to all the details of the exchange as previously mentioned.
